Lucius: The Elite/Mimic Keyword, with Grim Bonus

I've lost SO many games with Lucius, but I'm finally starting to turn that around, so I wanted to share what I've learned so far about the crew. Also I wrote this right after playing into Nekima, so that was a big influence. It's a long one, but hopefully can give some insight to other Lucius players so they don't have to suffer as much as I did haha. tldr; Strengths: Heavy melee control, card draw, hand control, scheming Weaknesses: Complicated, bubble crew, AoE/shockwaves, Hostile Work Environment Intimidating Authority After this model is targeted with an Attack Action, it may discard a card to have the Attacking model suffer a negative to that Action's duel. This ability (on most of the Elites) forces your opponent to rethink almost every attack they take, and most models will have to focus to hit, the exception being stone users. However, your opponent burning stones works to your advantage in the long run. Disguised This ability is the other half of the cr...

Euripides: the Savage Keyword

This is my first "deep dive" on a keyword, and it came out fairly lengthy, but I'm really trying to give as much information as possible for new players trying out the keyword.  tldr; Strengths: Mobility, unresisted damage, shockwaves, high damage melee, Hard to Kill + healing Weaknesses: Guns, anti-healing, terrifying Ice pillars  O how I love the ice pillar. Its height 4, Destructible, Impassable terrain on a 30mm marker. They do so much work, but they take a lot of practice to utilize to the fullest. You can block off opponents from choke points and objectives, you can buff and enable your crew, and you need to get them out before your other models move to gain the full benefits. Frozen vigor and Hard to Kill Whenever a Savage model (not including Euripides, the Damned, or Bultungin) ends its activation within 2" of an ice pillar, they heal 1 and gain +1 shielded. This combined with Hard to Kill and the Old Ways can make your models a lot harder to take off the ta...

intro

Hello! I'm James Hahn, and I'm a Neverborn player in Grand Rapids, MI. I am a (currently unofficial) henchman, and I try to get a game in (remote or IRL) every week. The purpose of this blog will be to provide a purely Neverborn perspective on the game of Malifaux. I'm by no means a top tier player, but I play a lot of games, and I think sharing my experiences might provide ideas for the player base to explore, as well as providing real world examples of how certain matchups have gone. I know plenty of players who love trying out new factions, but I also know there are plenty of faction purists out there.     My plan is to go through the models in the keywords I play, and then talk about some games that I've played with that keyword and how they've gone.
